Shinkage Ryu is one of the most famous kenjutsu systems in the history of Japanese budo. In the 19th century, a system of sword drawing, known as the Yagyu Seigo Ryu was developed the Soke of Shinkage Ryu. Since that time there have been several branchings of the teachings. This book and DVD by Oyama Masao teaches the Shinkage Ryu iai of a line that branched off from the Yagyu family line in the 1930's. In the book and on the DVD Oyama Sensei demonstrates 17 standing iai forms and 20 seated forms. Techniques are illustrated with large clear photographs.
